Marriott International's luxury Ritz-Carlton hotel brand is expected to return to Houston. An executive from Deiso Moss, a local real estate firm, told the Houston Chronicle that the company is in talks with Marriott to construct a 44-story Ritz-Carlton hotel with 154 rooms and 114 branded residences. Deiso Moss has not revealed the timeline of the projects but said there will be 50,000 square feet of restaurants, lounges and amenities. The firm has launched a website for those interested in opting into more information about the residences. "Houston previously had a Ritz-Carlton hotel in River Oaks, which hosted the late Queen Elizabeth II when they toured Texas in 1991, but it was stripped of its name in 1997 along with three other Ritz-Carltons in New York, Washington, and Colorado," reads the article.

After a half-century career in Houston construction and development, Joe Cleary is back where it all started. But this time, he plans to move in. One of the namesakes of Houston’s Harvey Cleary Builders, he wanted to be involved in developing a skyline-defining, 44-story condominium and hotel tower in Uptown Houston because he believes that the city is ready for — and deserves — the level of luxury that it will bring. The Ritz-Carlton Hotel & Residences Houston project is also on Post Oak Boulevard, where his career began. Cleary retired from Harvey Cleary after 49 years and established Cleary Interests to provide selective project advisory services.

Deiso Moss, which is developing a Ritz-Carlton Hotel & Residences at 2120 Post Oak Blvd., is bullish on branded, for-sale product in Houston, founder Taylor Moss said at the Hyatt Regency Houston West event. “We are a very wealthy city, almost as wealthy as some of those other primary markets,” Taylor Moss said. “We have no supply of those products and an immense, immense amount of demand. I think if you're able to meet that demand, you'll be very successful.” The average size of the Ritz-Carlton units will be 2,800 SF, fitting the needs of buyers coming from Tanglewood and River Oaks mansions, he said.
